ZOOM's iQ6 Stereo X/Y Microphone turns your iOS smartphone with a Lightning connector into a field recorder for recording concerts, interviews, meetings, lectures, and more at up to 16-bit/48kHz resolution. The microphone employs the same two high-quality, unidirectional condenser mics found in the renowned H4n recorder, allowing you to capture sound sources in the centre with clarity and definition while covering a large area.The X/Y microphones can be angled at 90 degrees for a narrowly focused image or 120 degrees for a more immersive wide-angle stereo. The huge mic gain dial on the front of the unit can be used to adjust the input gain, while the 3-segment LED can be used to check your settings. A separate 3.5mm headphone connector on the iQ6 allows for direct monitoring during recording and playback. If required, the headphone output can also be used as a line out to make a backup recording.The iQ6 includes a detachable spacer that allows it to fit into most iPhone, iPad, and iPod cases. The mic works with Zoom's free Handy Recorder programme, which allows you to record in PCM or AAC format and includes compression, EQ, and reverb effects. This condenser microphone also works with Apple's Voice Memo and GarageBand programmes, as well as the majority of apps that accept input from an external microphone.
