It can let the user to choose whether the signal will be crystal clean or dirty. Based on their 162SL model, the 676 Tube Microphone Preamp Channel Strip from dbx features a Class-A tube preamp section that runs on 250V, providing you with a tone range from pristine to dirty. The 676's 3-band parametric EQ has sweepable mids, and a front-panel instrument input which let you use it as a DI.
