The DPA's 4088 is a miniature cardioid headband that provides the best sounding directional headworn microphone available today for performing talent of various sorts. It provides the hands-free mobility for the preachers, lecturers and "stand-up" entertainers because you only need to wear it on the head. The 4088F is the beige color condenser microphone in the series.

The DPA 4088 headset provides numerous acoustic advantages. The 4088 headset produces the same sound regardless of whether the user is looking up, down, straight ahead, or to the side. Second, the 4088 headset mic can be placed in a convenient area near the mouth. This results in a more powerful, natural sound with fewer feedback issues. Because of its cardioid (directional) pickup pattern, DPA's model 4088 headset mic takes the benefits of the category up a notch or two. The 4088, unlike the typical omnidirectional headset mic, is designed to reject sound from behind the mic's element. This includes floor wedge monitors, loud instruments, reverb, and any other unwelcome sound.

The DPA 4088 cardioid headband microphone is designed for acoustically demanding live performance. No other headband provides such a secure and comfortable fit in such a compact and light package, weighing only 14 grammes (1/2 oz). The DPA 4088 is the ultimate miniature for achieving better live performance due to its quality construction, use of moisture resistant materials, and compatibility with all leading professional wireless systems. When it comes to high SPL events and dealing with feedback, the 4088 is up to the task. The capsule is concealed within a small and lightweight housing. The bass response is optimised for linearity at a distance of 2-3 centimetres (about 1 inch) from the sound source. This means that the bass roll-off will be more noticeable at a greater distance, which is critical when it comes to reject background noise and avoid feedback. The mechanical design is based on the 4066 headband microphone's proven construction quality. The headband mount is identical, but the boom is 3 centimetres longer to accommodate placement at the corner of the mouth. The element should not be placed directly in front of the mouth to avoid "popping."

The 4088's smooth and elegant design makes it the most inconspicuous headworn cardioid microphone on the market today. Sound quality, visual elegance, and versatility all work hard to ensure every show a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The capsule houses a pre-polarized first order pressure gradient transducer in a compact and light housing that is only slightly larger than our omni capsules. The mechanical design is based on the 4066 headband microphone's proven build quality. The headband mount is identical; however, the boom is 3 centimetres longer to accommodate the need for placement at the corner of the mouth. This construction's flexibility and stability are unparalleled.

The 4088 is certified by the IP58 with three defense mechanism which are the following:

•    Dual gold plating of the diaphragm
