CHINA: The Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai hosted the finals of the latest G League season. To ensure the 18,000 fans that filled the venue could see all of the esports action taking place, four 16m × 9m Absen LED screens were suspended 20m above the centre of the arena, offering a view of the competition to the audience on each side. ‘The competition was broadcast live on the screen, as well as on the internet, and the high level of contrast ratio and refresh rate ensured an excellent visual performance, even on camera,’ said Allen Ye, Absen’s project manager at the venue. ‘The four-sided, high-definition LED display system was able to provide clearer and closer views of the battles and game operations for each and every audience member, wherever they sat.’
The screens were formed from Absen’s 3.9mm pixel pitch LED solution. In addition to displaying the gameplay, they were also used as scoreboards and for showing team information.
